Iberia Group recently launched its CO2labora program, allowing passengers to offset emissions from flights through certified climate projects in Guatemala and Peru. Travelers can decide which flights they would like to offset, choosing one or several.

By using Iberia’s carbon footprint calculator, customers see both the emissions of their flight and the equivalent monetary investment to offset. The calculator factors in four variables:

  • Type of aircraft
  • Weather
  • Efficiency of operations
  • Cabin type

After purchasing a flight, Iberia travelers can offset their carbon footprint by clicking the Offset Your Footprint option or, post-flight, through the Sustainability section on Iberia’s website.

The two certified climate programs include Izabal, on Guatemala’s Caribbean coast, to promote new nature reserves and maintain existing natural forests; and a project on the edge of the Peruvian Amazon that helps the area’s seven indigenous communities and develops socially inclusive companies. Izabel hosts more than 120 species of wintering and stopover migratory birds, meaning offsets also protect agroforestry ecosystems and promote ecotourism. The indigenous communities in Peru belong to the Shipibo-Conibo and Cacataibo ethnic groups.

The Iberia Group developed the platform with CHOOOSE, a participant in the group’s Hangar 51 program to accelerate start-ups.

High-Spirited Hong Kong: The Dynamic Hub Embraces Its Maritime History and Culture

It was known as the “Kai Tak heart attack” — the thrilling, terrifying final approach into Hong Kong’s Kai Tak Airport. Airliners were required to bank sharply at the last moment, dodging hills and apartment blocks to line up with a runway jutting out into Kowloon Bay. The airport is long gone, but international visitors are arriving at Kai Tak again, albeit more sedately. Their cruise ships dock smoothly at Kai Tak Cruise Terminal, a modern gateway designed by Sir Norman Foster.

The Art of Balance in Seoul: Beyond the Boardroom

The value of a destination is no longer defined solely by infrastructure, efficiency or scale. Increasingly, it is measured by a city’s ability to balance productivity with well-being — creating opportunities for focus, restoration and more meaningful connections.
