A new Hyatt survey finds the more time travelers are on the road, the more likely it is they avoid skipping breakfast. The survey looked at more than 1,500 respondents’ breakfast habits, comparing those who traveled more and fewer than five times per year.

The majority of respondents who identify as frequent travelers indicate they eat breakfast at least three or more times per week, nearly 20 percent more than the infrequent travelers. Nearly half of frequent travelers said they eat breakfast more often while traveling, due to extra time in the mornings. Frequent travelers are also more likely to choose breakfast over an extra 30 minutes of sleep while traveling.

Nearly two-thirds of frequent travelers have chosen a hotel because of its breakfast offerings, and about half say breakfast is made up of their favorite foods.

When looking at the entire sample of respondents, a majority also choose hotels partly because of breakfast options and the favorite breakfast choice is omelets.

“Leisure and business travelers alike expect high quality and flexibility when it comes to their culinary experiences, and as this survey suggests, both components play a direct influence on their breakfast eating behavior on the road,” commented Brian Contreras, corporate director of culinary operations, Americas, Hyatt Place and Hyatt House.
