Reclaimed oak accents, antique mirrors, red leather banquettes, tweed details, copper topping and locally sourced British fare highlight Holborn Dining Room’s unique vibe. The restaurant, at the centrally located Rosewood London, proved the perfect place for my friend and I to unwind after a long day tour of the Cotswolds.

Another standout is The Gin Bar, which offers London’s largest collection of the spirit. With more than 400 gins and 30 tonics, a possible 14,000 gin and tonic pairings are possible. Rather than try to make an almost impossible decision, I trusted in our server and opted to try his personal favorite combination, fruity with strong hints of grapefruit, made with a local gin and local tonic.

We started with a cheese and charcuterie plate that included Spanish and British meats, like wild boar salami and chorizo. For my entrée, I again trusted the server and went with his suggestion of a shrimp burger with jalapeno tartar. There was a bit too much sauce for my liking, but once I more evenly distributed it, it was the perfect ratio and I was pleased. For my side, I had to try the mac and cheese, with smoked Cheddar and roasted garlic — well worth the indulgence!

Many delicious dessert options tempted — including a peanut brittle bar, burnt custard and sticky toffee pudding — but I had a chocolate cake waiting in my guestroom and decided not to overindulge.

Holborn Dining Room also serves breakfast and craft pies and offers a GQ Bar Pop-Up on the Terrace and a deli.
