Grand-Hôtel du Cap-Ferrat, A Four Seasons Hotel is a 5-star luxury resort located in the former fishing village of Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat on the French Riviera. Welcoming guests for more than 100 years, the property is set on 17 lush acres with stunning views of the Mediterranean Sea and 74 spacious guestrooms and suites. This year, noted Parisian designer Sybille de Margerie redesigned two of the hotel’s three villas on the property, Villa Beauchamp and Villa Clair Soleil, as well as the Penthouse.
Inspired by the seaside style of the early 20th century, Sybille de Margerie chose an elegant and colorful palette. Working with exceptional craftsmen and designers, she succeeded in making each space a true sensory experience in an idyllic setting.
Villa Beauchamp is a masterpiece of what designers call Mediterranean Luxury, and the interior colors resemble Henri Matisse’s Mediterranean paintings, with golden hues combined with green and blue, the colors of the Mediterranean Sea and terrain.

In Villa Beauchamp’s dining room, Sybille de Margerie commissioned painter Claire Basler to create a dream-like fresco inspired by the umbrella pines in the garden, and designer Karine Drasik’s delicate curtains are embroidered with mimosa flowers.
From the first and second floors, the view of the sea is stunning, and the terrazzo flooring adds to the traditional south-of-France atmosphere. The adjoining bathroom features a stunning mosaic floor paying homage to the frescoes by Jean Cocteau, many of which can be seen at nearby Villa Santo Sospir. Mesmerizing blue nuances extend into the two upper-floor bedroom suites. There is also a cinema room within the villa, and just steps away is a state-of-the-art fitness room.

Built in the early 20th century, Villa Clair Soleil features a spacious living area opening onto a vast panoramic terrace. Sybille de Margerie’s design choices include a dining room ceiling adorned with elegant, intertwining scrolls and lush foliage and illuminated by the glow of a remarkable chandelier by designer Andreea Braescu.
The living room contains marble flooring as well, with the entire first floor of Villa Chair Soleil bathed in the beautiful sunlight of Provence. In the two bedrooms on the upper floor the designer has installed a hand-painted mural by artist Cécile Gauneau. Villa Clair Soleil features a pool with direct access to the garden.
The newly designed Penthouse includes a Superior Pinewood Room, creating a chic, two-bedroom apartment, complete with 1,080 square feet of furnished outdoor spaces for relaxation and entertaining. Designed to make the most of the spectacular sea views, the Penthouse is located on the top floor of the hotel’s historic building.
Opened in 1908, Grand Hôtel du Cap-Ferrat featured two wings built at an open angle. In 1909, a loggia dining room (outdoors with a covered roof) and central bay-windowed Rotunda were added, following a design by Gustave Eiffel (the same Eiffel of Eiffel Tower and Statue of Liberty fame). The property’s 80-foot-long, heated saltwater Club Dauphin Pool pool was built in 1939, overlooking the sea, and is accessed by riding a glass funicular down to the pool site. It is often named as one of the most beautiful pools in the world.
There are 74 guestrooms (including 24 suites, 8 with private pool) as well as the Penthouse and the three villas. The hotel is closed from December to February.

Feb 26, 2025Review: Kimpton Hotel Palomar
ARRIVAL/CHECK-IN: Philadelphia was filling up with travelers, so I booked Kimpton Hotel Palomar due to its location in the heart of Center City — just off Samson Street, full of great restaurants, and a few blocks from The Union League (where I was attending an event) and City Hall. I parked around the corner; there are many options, and the hotel is also close to public transportation. I admired the lobby renovations that took place not too long ago, making this a hidden gem with a real Philadelphia feel. The doorman greeted me and held my bags, as I arrived in the morning for meetings before check- in. When I returned in the afternoon, check-in was swift with a friendly front desk team offering water and help with questions.
