Global City Guidebook 2025

Toronto, Canada’s largest and most populated city, sits on Lake Ontario’s northwestern shore. Ontario’s capital city boasts a skyscraper-crowded skyline dominated by the iconic CN Tower, but it also features many green spaces and 530 miles of the Bikeways Network. With 158 distinct neighborhoods, the city is known for its multiculturism as well as being a world leader in finance, technology and entertainment.

GETTING THERE & AROUND
Two airports serve Toronto: Toronto Pearson International Airport, Canada’s busiest and principal airport, and Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport, minutes from downtown on Toronto Island. Pearson welcomes 54 airlines that connect the city to more than 180 worldwide destinations. The UP Express train covers the 16 miles to downtown in 25 minutes, with rental cars, taxis, ride shares, shuttles and public buses also available. Porter Airlines and Air Canada serve Toronto City Airport, connecting to more than 20 U.S. and Canadian cities. Access downtown via a short ferry ride, streetcar or pedestrian tunnel. The Toronto Transit Commission operates an easy-to-navigate subway system, buses and streetcars in the city. Use the reloadable PRESTO card for TTC transit, UP Express and other regional transit systems. Use Bike Share Toronto’s public bikes or rent from independent bike shops, or explore walkable neighborhoods on foot. Taxis, Uber and Lyft operate here.
