La Romana’s many beautiful beaches offer something for every type of traveler. Dominicus Beach received Blue Flag certification and features excellent conditions for snorkeling and diving. Bayahibe Beach serves as a main departure point for travel to Saona Island, also boasting beautiful beaches. Guests at Casa de Campo have access to Minitas Beach, a private, family-friendly beach with water sports and a designated swimming area for young guests.
Teeth of the Dog Golf Course
Originally opened in 1971, this public, Pete Dye-designed course completed a refresh in 2024. The 18-hole course sits along the rugged coastline, offering golfers a challenging yet rewarding experience.
Global Traveler recommends eating like a local; skip mainstream restaurants and opt for Cañaveral Food Park and enjoy cuisine — such as baked lamb empanadas — from a plethora of well-regarded food trucks. For perfect beach weather, visit between December and April. Look for starfish in the shallows on Saona Island, part of Cotubanamá National Park.
