Review: Moxy NYC Chelsea

ARRIVAL/CHECK-IN: The hotel was designed to blend into the New York City landscape, specifically the Chelsea Flower District on which the property sits. The iconic neon purple Moxy sign, however, beckoned to me, where I was first met with an airy atrium paying homage to the hotel’s location with vibrant plastic flowers adorning a vintage-looking floral stand. It offered the perfect photo opportunity, and I was told the installation changes regularly. While the lobby is more of a small room with check-in desks, it’s seamless, efficient and easy to navigate. The check-in desks alone are unique, hanging by dark pipes from the ceiling, swaying ever so slightly.

Trace New Orleans’ Liquid Lineage at Experiential Sazerac House

In no other city are spirits and cocktails so inextricably linked than in New Orleans. Here you can sip a Vieux Carré, named for the French Quarter, while seated at a stool around the slowly revolving Carousel Bar where it was invented; or marvel at the lengthy hand-shaking required for the silky-smooth emulsification and mile-high airy foam of the Ramos Gin Fizz, an ethereal, heady drink created by Henry Ramos in 1888.

When you arrive at Kanu Private Island, there is no one waiting in line before you because there is no one else coming. This is a one-party island booked through Gecko Vacation Rentals, and everything from welcome drinks to your farewell transfer is designed around your group alone.
