The Emerald Coast Convention & Visitors Bureau (ECCVB) recently introduced a campaign highlighting the Florida destination’s local cuisine and their charter fishing fleet of 140 vessels who make it possible. They aim to target both those who love to eat fresh seafood and those who love to do the actual fishing, stating avid fishing enthusiasts will find plenty of spots to hone their hobby, whether it be on the Gulf of Mexico, in Choctawhatchee Bay or in one of the regional bayous.

“Part of what differentiates our area from other beach destinations is not only the quantity of the different fish you can catch year-round — which is plenty — but the quality of the fish on your plate once it’s caught. Our fishing captains are the best in the world at helping you hook that big one, and we have a group of fantastic chefs who have crafted recipes that truly bring out the flavor of each type of fish,” said Ed Schroeder, director, ECCVB.

The bureau produced a guide detailing the most popular spots to fish in the region, as well as the most popular fishing techniques. Included are tips on booking one of the area’s fishing charters, how to obtain the proper fishing license and where to find gulf-to-table cuisine. When travelers visit one of these authentic eateries, they’ll find many participate in the Fish Trax program, which allows diners to scan a unique QR code that comes alongside their entrée, which details where, when and by whom your dinner was caught.
