Day 1

Home base is House Hotel Cappadocia in the town of Ortahisar. Every cave room is different and unique. Drop your bags and explore the town’s surrounding before heading to the UNESCO World Heritage site of Goreme Open-Air Museum, with churches carved into mountains and painting preserved from centuries past. Check out the town afterward. In the afternoon, a 1.5-mile hike through Love Valley is the perfect lead-in to a Turkish dinner at Topdeck Cave Restaurant in Goreme.

Day 2

A good nights’ rest is advised on night one as you’ll be up early, before the sun, for the quintessential, cannot be missed, Cappadocia activity: a hot-air balloon ride. Splurge with the Viator Balloon Tour with Champagne Breakfast. Unwind in the afternoon with a visit to the House Hotel Cappadocia’s spa for its traditional hammam treatments. Time your three-mile hike of Rose Valley to finish around sunset, as its an epic sight from this area. End the night with dinner at the hotel.

Day 3

Go underground on your final day at Derinkuyu Underground City, a museum dating to the 7th or 8th centuries. Afterward, visit Selime Cathedral, the largest in Cappadocia and built into the side of the mountain. Your last hike in Cappadocia will take you to Pigeon Valley. Before departing, visit the town of Avanos for exceptional pottery shopping.
