Etihad Airways was recently named the most punctual airline in the Middle East. Global aviation analytics group OAG made the announcement as part of its Punctuality League ratings for 2019. Among all full-service and low-cost operators, Etihad Airways was the only Middle Eastern airline to make it into the Top 20 for punctuality, ranking 17th. Among mainline airlines, including only major carriers offering more than 30,000 flights per year, Etihad Airways ranked 13th for punctuality.
OAG defines punctuality and on-time performance as flights departing or arriving within 15 minutes of their scheduled times.
“Etihad Airways’ high placement in the 2019 OAG rankings demonstrates the airline’s commitment to delivering total quality, and on-time performance is a major part of this,” said Mohammad Al Bulookie, COO, Etihad Airways. “Etihad, with the determination of its operations team, as well as the investment in new technology will continuously strive to increase efficiency and service.”
Otherwise, the top five carriers for on-time arrivals and departures were Garuda Indonesia in first place, followed by Copa Airlines, Skymark Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines and LATAM Airlines Group. In terms of North American airlines, Delta Air Lines came behind Hawaiian Airlines and was followed by Alaska Airlines.
