Etihad Airways increased the number of seats on its service between Abu Dhabi (AUH) and Melbourne (MEL) with the addition of larger aircraft in order to cater to growing travel demand from Australia. The carrier added a new 328-seat Boeing 777-300ER aircraft featuring a three-class configuration to the route, offering 36 more seats than the Airbus A340-600 that currently operates the service. “Etihad Airways’ Melbourne–Abu Dhabi flights are some of the strongest performers in our network — this year, load factors between the two cities have averaged more than 80 percent,” said James Hogan, president and CEO of Etihad. “Switching to the Boeing 777 gives us 12 percent more seats overall and 25 percent more in business class. This will enable us to increase our share of the corporate and leisure travel market between Australia and Abu Dhabi and beyond to our worldwide network.”
