Ethiopian Airlines announced its intent to launch service from New York (JFK) starting in June. The airline has not provided service to and from New York since 2004, in order to offer a non-stop service between Washington and Addis Ababa.

The new flights from Addis Ababa (ADD) to New York and vice versa will be available on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. The flights will stop briefly in Lomé. After arriving in Addis Ababa, passengers will have the option to connect to other major destinations in East, Southern and Central Africa and the Middle East. Ethiopian Airlines partner, ASKY Airlines, will also provide connectivity with destinations in West Africa.

The Boeing 787 Dreamliner will be featured on the New York to Addis Ababa route, which will offer 24 business-class and 246 economy-class seats.

This expansion of Ethiopian Airlines’ service will further their global reach, which expanded in 2015 to include Tokyo, Manila, Dublin, Los Angeles, Cape Town and Durban, among others.
