Emirates will grow its Airbus A380 network with new double daily A380 service to Mauritius later this year. From Dec. 1, the second A380 service, operating as flight EK 703/704, will replace the existing Boeing 777 operation, increasing Emirates’ capacity on the route between Dubai International Airport and Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport by 19 percent. The aircraft upgrade will allow an additional 165 passengers each day to travel to the island in the middle of the Indian Ocean.
“Our daily A380 service into Mauritius has enjoyed exceptional popularity since its launch on Dec. 16, 2013, with more than 150,000 passengers having flown our flagship aircraft to the paradise island during this time,” said Orhan Abbas, senior vice president of commercial operations for Latin America, Central and Southern Africa, Emirates.
Emirates will become the first carrier in the world to operate A380 aircraft to a destination in the Indian Ocean. The airline currently operates 39 A380s to 26 destinations around the world, more than any other airline.
