Delta, Virgin Atlanta Bring Changes To Heathrow

Daily

Starting Sept. 14, Delta Air Lines moves its operations of London Heathrow Airport exclusively to Terminal 3. Delta and Virgin Atlantic will share the terminal in attempts to ease passenger experiences. Delta’s New York (JFK), Boston (BOS) and Seattle (SEA) services from London already operate out of Terminal 3. Services from Atlanta (ATL), Detroit (DTW), Minneapolis (MSP), Salt Lake City (SLC) and Philadelphia (PHL) join them later in the month. “Our joint venture with Virgin Atlantic is all about making it easy for our customers to connect between our airlines and having our Heathrow service under one roof is crucial to delivering a synched-up, more convenient service. This enhances the travel experience for customers flying from Heathrow, one of the world’s most important international gateways, and marks a major milestone in our joint venture,” said Nat Pieper, senior vice president, Europe, Middle East and Africa, Delta Air Lines. “We are looking forward to our joint venture partner, Delta, joining us in Terminal 3 at London Heathrow. Once the switch goes ahead, our customers can enjoy an even more seamless experience flying from or through London. Whether they’re flying Virgin Atlantic or Delta, they’ll benefit from world-class service from the most punctual trans-Atlantic operators at Heathrow, and one of the world’s best airport experiences,” said Erik Varwijk, executive vice president, commercial, Virgin Atlantic. High-Spirited Hong Kong: The Dynamic Hub Embraces Its Maritime History and Culture

It was known as the “Kai Tak heart attack” — the thrilling, terrifying final approach into Hong Kong’s Kai Tak Airport. Airliners were required to bank sharply at the last moment, dodging hills and apartment blocks to line up with a runway jutting out into Kowloon Bay. The airport is long gone, but international visitors are arriving at Kai Tak again, albeit more sedately. Their cruise ships dock smoothly at Kai Tak Cruise Terminal, a modern gateway designed by Sir Norman Foster.
