The Tourism Authority of Thailand’s Los Angeles Office announced a new initiative for would-be travelers waiting for the green light. The Buy Now, Stay Later: Thailand launch comes on the heels of Thailand’s foreign travel restrictions extending until further notice.
The Buy Now, Stay Later campaign allows travelers to purchase hotel bonds, which increase in value over time, and essentially act as a savings with interest toward a future trip. The time and investment allow travelers to save money for a future vacation in Thailand, when U.S. passport holders are free to roam.
The country is planning a multiphase reopening to foreign tourists, potentially beginning Aug. 1, and tentatively starting with Phuket, Krabi and Surat Thani. The opening phases will be controlled and monitored, setting the tone for remaining reopening steps.
Many of the participating hotels are located in these first-phase provinces, as they are likely to reopen earliest. Travelers can read more about the travel partners involved, including Banyan Tree Bangkok, The Sukhothai Bangkok, The Siam Hotel and Anantara Hua Hin Resort — all critically-acclaimed, award-winning stays.
The bonds, similar to savings bonds, begin in $100 increments and can be redeemed for a value of $150 after a 60-day maturation period. Read more about the offer here.

The capital of Ontario is considered one of the most diverse cities in the world, evident not only in the nearly 200 languages spoken here and the fact more than half of the population is foreign-born, but in the staggering diversity of the city’s restaurants. Often found in cultural enclaves, they stretch from Chinatown to Little Jamaica and Greektown.
