British Airways gives passengers a new way to experience its luxury Club World cabin, when they check in for their flight at Heathrow Terminal 5. The check-in desk now features a virtual reality experience where passengers take a 360-degree tour of the Club World cabin, with a glimpse of the entire space, including the lie-flat seats, available bedding and dining. Guests who try the virtual reality experience are given the opportunity to upgrade their seat to the Club World cabin.
“We are always looking at new and innovative ways to engage with our customers and virtual reality is the latest way we are using a rapidly evolving area of technology to further improve the airport experience,” said Tom Stevens, head of customer, Heathrow, British Airways. “I’m thrilled British Airways is the first U.K. airline to be using the technology. The feedback from customers who have tried out the virtual reality headset has been incredibly positive; they love having a sneak peek at our swish Club World cabin…”
The virtual reality headsets were provided by Skylights, a tech start-up member of the IAG Hangar 51 startup accelerator program.
“We’re really excited about the many opportunities virtual technology offers for our customers on the ground, and in the air,” added Stevens.
