Blue Waters Resort and Spa in Antigua is rolling out a proprietary bath amenity brand, Neem Avenue, in an effort to reduce its plastic consumption.

The resort plans to replace all in-room single-use amenities with the brand to have a positive impact on its own carbon footprint. Blue Waters’ ultimate goal is the total elimination of plastic at the resort.

The line includes standard amenity items, like shampoo, conditioner, body wash and body lotion. Each product comes in a reusable, 500-milliliter, biopolymer bottle with a recyclable pump cap. Instead of plastic packaging, hand soap will be wrapped in paper.

The change is expected to save more than just plastic. The resort estimates guests will use 30 percent less product over the course of a week. Instead of running through 500 plastic bottles in a year, the brand will use just 24 recyclable bottles. In total, about 55,000 single-use miniatures will be eliminated.
