Living near the water promises endless aquatic adventures. Being in Southern California, it means summer days in the middle of the winter, and that is exactly what we enjoyed this weekend. Sid just got himself an inflatable kayak and Chis had a new lifejacket to show off, so we had to get out there.

There are a few great spots to experience when you’re looking to get out in the water in Long Beach:
- Mother’s Beach: Super-close to a fantastic shopping center called 2nd & PCH where you can pick up some food before you head out on your water adventure. You can enjoy a lovely picnic at the park and then hop into the water on your paddle board. If you don’t own your own gear, there are certainly plenty of places to rent it.
- Bayshore Beach: Find yourself in the center of all the action where locals go. You’ll have a wonderful time in the water, whether it’s a swim or a kayak ride. You can also rent a small motorboat with your friends with some wine and charcuterie goodness. Is that a perfect Saturday afternoon or what?
- Naples: Long Beach’s ode to Italy’s canals, find serene waters to practice your balance on the SUP while you ogle some beautiful homes.
