Recently we decided to expand our stamps on the National Parks Passport, and we took to the southern border. It felt like we were in Mexico, but that’s for another day.
As many of you know, many beautiful natural gems lie in New Mexico. We visited Carlsbad Caverns National Park. If you love exploring deep, dark crevices, this is the spot for you!
We got to enjoy bat exploration hour at sunset. I have never in my life experienced a group of 100-plus humans collectively staying silent during something so beautiful as watching bats exit their cave to explore for the night. Park rangers are serious about phone use; they will give you a citation if they see anything in hand. I absolutely loved watching so much respect for nature.
The entire park is underground, making it the ideal place to be when the heat is already reaching 85-plus degrees; the Chihuahuan Desert is no joke!
