About two years ago, musician Suzi Quatro was the first interview guest on Global Traveler‘s debut of Talking Travel. A day after her 75th birthday, I interviewed Quatro again while she was midway through her 41st tour of Australia. In this interview, Quatro spoke of her life of travel as well Grave Undertakings, her recently released novel.
After starting her musical career as a teenager, Quatro has been on the road for six decades. Having traveled millions of miles, she is comfortable on the road. Actually, Quatro said she is more comfortable traveling, as it gives her a set schedule.
Although she splits her home life between Germany and England, her many visits to Australia gave her enough knowledge to be a tour guide. She offered many interesting spots to visit in the land Down Under.
Quatro also discussed her native Detroit. One more concert there is on her bucket list and mine, too.
Grave Undertakings started as a book of gravestone quotes, a lifelong interest of hers. Along the way, it morphed into a psychological novel. As I told Quatro, for me it worked as a novel, an introspection tool and a fun look at dozens of epitaphs.

Jul 13, 2026Review: Four Seasons Hotel St. Louis
ARRIVAL/CHECK-IN: After a late-night flight into St. Louis, I arrived at the Four Seasons around 1:30 a.m., completely exhausted. The moment I stepped into the lobby, I was warmly greeted by the front desk attendant, who checked me in quickly and efficiently. On my way to the elevators, I caught a glimpse of the stunning lobby which had a long stream of water flowing behind a glass wall paired with a unique sculpture. Even in my tired state, I knew I wanted to come back and take it all in during daylight.
