Special Stay at Sunny Isles

by Carrie Cox

Oct 10, 2025

More Miami travels mean more opportunities to stay at interesting and iconic properties. Last month I enjoyed two nights at Trump International Beach Resort Sunny Isles.Miami

Unbeknownst to me, the President does not own the Sunny Isles destination. Rather, it’s owned by Gil Dezer of Dezer Development but carries the Trump name.

CEO and Publisher Francis X Gallagher and I were in town seeing clients and received a warm welcome from multiple employees on site. We were escorted through the underground “bones” of the resort and shown a secret shortcut to the waterfront restaurant. We had excellent conversations with servers, bartenders, the hostess, check-in staff and others. I was even greeted by the events team in the elevator, asking if everything had gone well with my stay.

In short, the hospitality was outstanding.

That’s not always the case in Miami. Even though the city generally has an easy-going vibe, “easy going” doesn’t always translate into a team that pays attention and is genuinely interested in elevating your experience.

I’m guessing it’s part of the secret of their success. That and the fantastic location. I woke up early one morning and took a walk on the beach, watching the ocean as it flowed over my footprints and bathed my feet. Being at a waterfront resort makes any trip easier, but this trip was also enhanced by the suite I enjoyed on the 29th floor.Miami

My room felt more like a small apartment than a hotel suite. A generous living room area, separate dining area, large kitchenette and washer/dryer combination were all available in the first room, with the second room housing a king-sized bed, business work station, five-piece bathroom and balcony.Miami

I never get tired of seeing the Atlantic Ocean from a high-rise resort, and the Trump International Sunny Isles fully delivered. The sun was shining, the wind was minimal, and the views were incredible. An ocean view is always worth the upgrade.

With five different dining options, two pools, full-service spa, fitness center, meeting space and tennis/pickleball courts, this resort easily works for families traveling together as much as for couples looking to get away. The only thing I missed was getting a closer look at the cotton candy machine near the indoor arcade and kids’ game room.Miami

For me, each trip to Miami is different than the last. For Trump International Sunny Isles, the difference can be seen through the people who work there.

Why Japan Is Best Explored by Sea with Princess

Japan is a destination that rewards repeat visits because no two regions — or seasons —  feel quite the same. One moment, you’re wandering through centuries-old geisha districts in Kanazawa. The next, you’re watching neon reflections dance across Tokyo streets long after midnight.

Review: Hartwell House

In the library of Hartwell House, I checked the latest weather forecast on my phone. Most immediately, I made sure we had time for a walk in the 90 acres of gardens before the arrival of thunderstorms. I was also monitoring the next day’s weather, which was expected to break the highest ever June temperature in England. Through my smartphone, I benefited from a science that began, in its modern form, in that very room. There, in 1850, the Royal Meteorological Society was founded.
