On Dec. 4 I had the pleasure of donating my time with my colleague, Carly, to help build a home in Long Beach, Calif., with SkyTeam members and Habitat for Humanity. It was a day well spent in the sun helping to build homes for deserving, low-income families in the L.A. area. We quickly became pros at painting and using nail guns.

It was an incredibly rewarding day as we worked alongside a woman who will move into one of the homes in fall 2018. She sat with us over lunch and told us her story and experience being chosen as one of the families to be part of the project. She was so appreciative, and I was blown away at her poise, vulnerability and strength. I feel incredibly lucky I had the privilege to help build her home and spend the day with her. I look forward to my next project with Habitat for Humanity and highly recommend rolling up your sleeves with some colleagues to donate your time outside the office to give back to your local community.
