As some of you may already know from a previous post, I am a casual trivia player during the week. It’s the perfect way to meet up with friends in the area and have some fun on a weeknight. For the first tournament, my team used Double Nickle Brewing as our home base; we have since moved to Mulligan’s Bar & Grill to continue to see our friends at Game Show Palooza, the company behind these local bar trivia tournaments.

We are in our second season as The Screws, and it’s been a great start so far. At Mulligan’s this past Monday, we secured our first victory. It is a tradition I’ve honestly been neglecting, but I was ready to dive back in. Another reason we had to move locations is my friends moved, and this trivia location is still relatively close to all of us, so it seemed like the perfect spot. One of my friends was using this as an opportunity to kick off her birthday week and ordered the chocolate lava cake from the list of desserts. The celebrations conclude Friday with dinner, jazz and drinks.

Trivia starts at 7 p.m., and we were right on time to secure a table and check in. There was a nice selection of beers on draft, and at my friend’s recommendation, I ordered Down East’s Peach Mango Cider. It was delicious, and the peach flavor really came forward for me. There was a surprising cinnamon flavor mixed in that had the table debating if I had been given the correct drink. The restaurant had plenty of space to accommodate players and other patrons. Even though only one bar was being used, there was a second room housing a large party. After four rounds, we were awarded a $25 gift card to Mulligan’s and a Blue Moon pint glass that was accidentally shattered later in the evening. Good news is, if we win again next week, there’s a chance to replace it!
