Fran and I began working together 15 years ago, when he was publisher of another magazine. I had just been asked to organize the airline wine competition. Then one day, about ten years later, he asked me to meet him at the W Hotel in New York. The reason: he was going to start a new magazine and wanted me to join him. I had always seen him as hard working, competent, upbeat and optimistic. And his dream, plan and enthusiasm quickly won me over. Soon after, we sealed the agreement over lunch at Gramercy Tavern. I trusted Fran completely. Now, five years, five wine competitions, 59 wine columns and several other articles later, I am overjoyed with what he has accomplished. I am delighted to be part of the Global Traveler family.
