In its 15th year, Wednesdays on the Green, presented by Skokie Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Skokie Public Library, is a fun night of music at the library courtyard. Because I am so close, I usually just enjoy the music from my balcony. Every year I make the exception and the short walk there for Serendipity.
A five-member band, Serendipity played an energetic 90-minute set of cover songs. The set included a disco mashup and a mini-tribute to Journey. The highlight was their cover of “Help!” As a long-time fan of The Beatles, I have heard many covers of their songs, but this was the first cover of “Help!” with a female lead singer. It was also one of the best covers of “Help!” I have heard. 
This was my fifth year of seeing Serendipity at Wednesdays on the Green. Previously, they battled occasional rain. Last night they contended with temperatures near 90 degrees. Through it all, they played with spirit and energy. The crowd of all ages showed appreciation with lots of applause and dancing.
After their set I chatted with the band and got my annual picture, as did my friend Jim. I hope to see them again this summer.
