While I do enjoy being in the kitchen, going to the grocery store is one of my least favorite activities. These current times have not helped … .
As soon as we started social distancing, my boyfriend and I agreed it’d be best if only one of us goes in and out of the apartment in order to keep the risk to a minimum. Shortly after, we remembered we have a few meal service subscriptions we could take advantage of during quarantine.
We tried a meal kit earlier this year and fell in love with how seamlessly we were able to elevate our weeknight dinners and learn new recipes and tricks in the kitchen. So when one of my colleagues sent me a free trial for EveryPlate, we chose to give it a try and compared it with the ones we’ve previously tried. We fell in love!
EveryPlate works just like any other meal service subscription: You sign up and choose how many meals per week and for how many people. One of the cons I found is they don’t offer specific plans for different dietary needs. Instead, they focus on the highest quality at a lower price per serving, which is $4.99.
Once signed up, you get to choose your meal from 11 different options each week, and you have the option to change them up to three days before the scheduled delivery. Each box contains the ingredients and recipe cards for the meals you’ve chosen. One of the things I find most convenient is we can opt to skip the week without having to deactivate our account, and you can see the recipe card online so you can make sure to get anything you’ll need that isn’t part of the box.
During this time, we have received three meal kits that made the #stayathome experience more interesting. I particularly like how well-boxed the ingredients are and the farmers market feel to it.
What’s your experience with meal subscription services?
