My good friend of many years recently finished his first year of college. To celebrate, we decided to go to one of his favorite restaurants in New Hope, Pa., Giuseppe’s. This Italian restaurant is a local favorite on account of its friendly staff and great food. My friend explained he has been eating there since childhood, so naturally I wanted to give it a try.

When you first walk through the doors, you are not overwhelmed with fancy décor or flashy uniforms and menus. The restaurant’s front is a pizza shop where customers can get single slices or order out. You walk down a long ramp into a large open dining room with a cooking station in the corner — my friends and I decided to take a booth.

Giuseppe’s is a laid-back, family-style restaurant. There is no dress code, and reservations are not accepted. Giuseppe’s is one of the best-kept secrets in the area, visited mainly by locals as well as those who are into the foodie scene.

I ordered the brick oven pizza, which was absolutely delicious. Unfortunately, in my haste, I started eating as soon as it got to the table. Needless to say, my mouth was ruined for the remainder of the weekend, but the pizza was great, and it was worth it.

For those who have never heard of New Hope, it is one of the most pro-LGBTQ cities in America. If your adventures ever take you to this neck of the woods, make sure to stop over at Giuseppe’s.
