I find myself, like I am sure many of you do as well, glued to social media and technology during these times. Some days are just perfect for that cozy, lazy couch, binge watching all of your favorites, while others are a needed escape. A few weekends ago, my fiancé and I decided we needed a much-needed break from all communication, wedding planning — you name it — and took a trip to the Pocono Mountains for fresh air.
We set a plan in place for an adventure; still semi-new to the Northeast and area, this is pretty easy to come by. We mapped out exactly where we planned on reaching with the best waterfalls in sight and hiking trails through the mountains.
We most definitely kept our phones on us for safety, GPS and picture-perfect moments to capture the latest and greatest trek out of our cozy apartment.
I have to brag, my fiancé sure knows how to research, map out and execute everything well while keeping in timely fashion! We gathered our daytrip essentials and loaded up in the car for a quick two-hour drive north to the start of our hiking adventures. Shohola Falls, Raymondskills Falls, Silverthread Falls and Dingmans Falls were all quite the sight to see and to escape reality in nature’s beauty. We went chasing waterfalls, and we loaded up quite the list!
Each location of the waterfalls offered a parking lot nearby and then a hike to the falls. Each location was easy to reach for the most amateur hikers out there. Actually, at each of the waterfalls, there were numerous kids and families walking around exploring nature as well.
While our escape was a few weekends ago, there is a much-needed pull for an upcoming one very soon, as well!

Jun 3, 2025Now’s the Time to See Giza, the Nile and Beyond
All archaeology-obsessed eyes turned hopefully toward Egypt earlier this year when the highly anticipated Grand Egyptian Museum outside Cairo finally began welcoming visitors after construction delays, funding roadblocks and political upheaval in the region (among other factors) conspired to keep things delayed for many long years. The museum’s cherry on the top is slated to open this summer, with the July opening of the museum’s 20-plus-years-in-the-making Tutankhamen galleries and accompanying cache of some 5,000 artifacts and treasures from the boy king’s tomb.
