If you noticed a name change — good eye. Yep, I’m officially a Mrs. now.

The past few months have been … a lot. The kind of “a lot” that makes you laugh, cry and forget what day it is. Between work, life, endless wedding errands, a 48-hour sprint through Miami and our actual wedding week/day, I’ve been living in what feels like the real-life version of Everything, Everywhere, All at Once.

It’s impressive how fast it all moved and yet how full each moment felt.

Our wedding brought together family from all over the country and the world — Spain, Lebanon, the Dominican Republic, California, Florida and so many places in between. For two solid weeks we were fueled by adrenaline, love and the unshakeable joy of seeing everyone we care about in one place. The hugs were tighter, the laughs louder and the late nights (somehow) longer.

There’s nothing quite like walking into a room and knowing every face there got on a plane or made time to be with you. It made every planning headache, errand run and email chain completely worth it.

Though we’re holding off on our official honeymoon, we knew we needed a pause. We booked a few days at a cozy riverfront cabin in the Catskills, a little Airbnb gem called Enchanting River Cabin. Tucked away in the trees with just the sounds of the stream and the occasional woodpecker, it was exactly what we needed: no itinerary, no seating charts, no inbox. Just good coffee, a fireplace, a soft bed and room to breathe again.

And “enchanted” was certainly no false name! Throughout the A-Frame (which remained airy even without turning the AC on during a June heat wave), the hosts pulled together bits and pieces of nature and magic and wove them into a whimsical wonderland.

It seemed as if everywhere you turned, another detail would suddenly pop out to delight you. From a record player complete with a small but choice selection of 45s and 33s to a little fairy garden, from vines carefully wrapped around the café lights to a little nook in the stairwell (that you swear you hadn’t seen the first 10 times up and down) that’s hiding a little chessboard, it was impossible not to feel surrounded by intention and care. And don’t get me started on the light — the picture windows scattered throughout the cabin provided the perfect views over the creek and small forest behind the property.

Oh, and can I say, the mattress? Perfection. Our only criticism was with ourselves — why didn’t we do a third night? We wrapped up the mini-moon with a couples’ massage at The Lodge at Woodlock Spa. It was the perfect way to reintegrate, process all the magic, sleep in and just remember how to be human together again.
