Eat, Drink, and Be Murray

I have enjoyed many delicious meals at Murray Bros. Caddyshack. Now, thanks to chef Andy Murray, I can also enjoy some of those meals at home prepared by me.

Friday, my friend Tony Feddeler and I attended the book release party for Eat, Drink, and Be Murray: A Feast of Family, Fun and Favorites. Caddyshack owner and younger brother of Bill, Andy, put together a cookbook full of family favorites. It’s also filled with lots of stories and pictures. It’s 208 pages of awesome food and fun with the beloved Chicago Murray family.Chef Andy Murray

After Tony and I arrived early, Murray sat with us and gave me a few minutes for an interview about the book. Much to our joy, the book includes recipes for Caddyshack favorites like potato balls. A like believer in meals being about togetherness and food, he said there are plenty of recipes the whole family can prepare together.

When Murray left us to start signing books, Tony and I enjoyed our meals, starting with the potato balls appetizer, of course. Tony had nachos while I had chicken quesadillas. Their amazing key lime pie provided a tart and tasty end to the meal.Mike Avella

Before leaving, Tony and I caught up with Caddyshack GM Mike Avella and Chicago broadcast journalist Jenniffer Weigel. Daughter of the late sportscaster Tim, Jenniffer is also a successul author. Among her several books is Stay Tuned, about her journey with her father in life and beyond. A fantastic, thought-provoking read which brought me tears and joy, Stay Tuned is one of my all-time favorites.Jenniffer Weigel

Located in Rosemont, just west of Chicago, Murray Bros. Caddyshack is one of my regular dining choices. It was our favorite spot for post-game meals after watching Athletes Unlimited softball at the nearby Parkway Bank Sports Complex or attending conventions at the Rosemont Convention Center across the street. The food is great, and the staff is top-notch.

The Eat, Drink, and Be Murray book release party was filled with food, friends and fun, much like the book itself. Much like the restaurant, the book promises to be a major success, as several friends have already ordered their copies. As I said in the interview, my suggestion is to buy the book at MBCS, have Murray sign it, and then enjoy any of their wonderful meals.

Fairfield by Marriott Phnom Penh Review

Phnom Penh as we imagined it stretches beneath us: a picturesque, low-rise mix of Southeast Asian and French Colonial styles. When the inhabitants of those buildings look back at us here in the Fairfield by Marriott hotel in Chip Mong Tower, they see the future.
