The spirit of the Roaring ’20s comes to life in Club Arcada Speakeasy & Restaurant. While not crooning tunes quite that far back, Haley Reinhart was a perfect fit for the historic venue.

Housed in Arcada Theatre in St. Charles, about an hour west of Chicago, Club Arcada occupies much of the third floor. An intimate setting, seating an estimated 200, it features great sight lines and outstanding acoustics. Arcada Theatre was opened in 1926 and has remained open continuously except for short periods for renovations. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Combining history with modern conveniences, it is a magnificent structure.

The menu, while somewhat limited, features wonderfully crafted options. I enjoyed fresh mozzarella, tomato and basil flatbread. The layers of flavors and textures were delicious. I finished with the mini cannoli trio, featuring three crispy shells with a perfect ricotta filling. The key to any cannoli is always the filling, and Club Arcada nailed it. Of course, I expect that from Club Arcada CEO/founder Ron Onesti. Working my way through the menu over the years, I have yet to find a meal I haven’t loved.

Considering herself an old soul, Reinhart delighted the crowd with a few retro rock oldies as well as some original tunes. As usual, her father, Harry, joined her for a bit, showing his guitar chops. Mother Patti also got on stage for a duet with her daughter.

Reinhart certainly can fill much larger venues, but she would be hard-pressed to have a performance quite as magical as this one. The lengthy ovation following her set proved the rest of the crowd felt that way, too.
