My most recent visit to Dunn Museum was a trip back in time to my childhood. Childhood Classics: 100 Years of Original Illustration features artwork from more than 75 beloved children’s books.
Childhood Classics includes illustrations of Yogi Bear, Charlotte’s Web and Popeye. The exhibit also includes works from Dr. Seuss, Maurice Sendak, Rosemary Wells, Richard Scarry, Arnold Lobel and Hilary Knight. Timeless characters like The Cat in the Hat, Eloise and Babar add color.

It was interesting to see the evolution of children’s books. Along with entertaining and educating, the works are examples of various time periods.

Childhood Classics also features interactive stations. There’s a puppet theater, a table for little ones to express creativity, and several sensory spots made for touch and smell.

The exhibit was larger and more thorough than expected. It can be enjoyed by all ages. Through Jan. 19, 2026, Childhood Classics was curated and organized by Lee Cohen and Lois Sarkisian of Art Kandy in association with Landau Traveling Exhibitions, who manages the touring exhibition.
