Although Chicago Auto Show opened February 7, I enjoyed a special preview the day before. It’s always extra fun without the huge crowds when the show officially opens.

Debuting in 1901, the CAS is the largest auto show in North America. In its 118th year, it has been held more times than any other auto exposition on the continent. Produced since 1935 by Chicago Automobile Trade Association, the nation’s oldest and largest metropolitan dealer organization, CAS features about 1,000 vehicles from more than two dozen manufacturers including cars, trucks, SUVs, concept cars and more. There are special themed vehicles like Chicago Cubs, White Sox and Blackhawks vehicles, creating great selfie spots for fans. A few new exhibits join old popular favorites this year.

Chi-Town Alley is a new area devoted to Chicago’s automotive communities. Highlighting creative local auto enthusiasts, it has performance cars, custom builds, street-inspired designs and more, intended to create engagement within the automotive scene.
Sunday there was a 2.4-mile fun run inside McCormick Place before the opening. There is a food drive later this week. Tuesday is Automotive Career Day. Special-price tickets are offered to students of all ages to learn more about various careers in the automotive industry. On Friday there is a craft beer sampling event.
There are a few indoor test driving areas as well as driving simulators. There are also special zones for families and kids.
Not really a car guy, I enjoy the older cars more than the shiny new ones filled with the latest technology. I do like to check out the new ones, just to try to keep up with the latest included gadgets.

With more than 300,000 attendees expected, it is going to be a busy show. If the first couple days are an indication, I think attendance will easily pass expectations.

Sep 17, 2026High-Spirited Hong Kong: The Dynamic Hub Embraces Its Maritime History and Culture
It was known as the “Kai Tak heart attack” — the thrilling, terrifying final approach into Hong Kong’s Kai Tak Airport. Airliners were required to bank sharply at the last moment, dodging hills and apartment blocks to line up with a runway jutting out into Kowloon Bay. The airport is long gone, but international visitors are arriving at Kai Tak again, albeit more sedately. Their cruise ships dock smoothly at Kai Tak Cruise Terminal, a modern gateway designed by Sir Norman Foster.
