The last time I rode a bike before I recently went to Berlin was when I was about 13 years old. Berlin’s streets are filled with history that takes hours of walking to see, so I decided to explore the city via a bike tour instead. Fat Tire Bike Tours offers fun-filled, friendly and what I personally think are the best tours around Berlin. I was able to see and learn so much within just a couple of hours while getting great exercise. While cycling through Berlin I was able to learn more about the city’s founding, the Prussians, the Weimer Republic, Hitler and the Third Reich, the Berlin Wall and about the Berlin of today. Seeing major monuments and things I have only seen in textbooks was amazing. Fat Tire Bike Tours took me to Checkpoint Charlie, the Brandenburg Gate, the Berlin Wall, Hitler’s bunker, the Victory Column and many other tourist attractions. A little bit more than half way through the tour, the guide also took us to a beer garden located in the heart of Berlin’s city park for a break. The food was delicious and tasted amazing after a long tour and refueled us for the rest of the tour, which lasted about 4.5 hours and covered 6 miles. Participants can also upgrade to a semi-private tour, but I believe being able to get to know the people in the tour group is half the fun. There are many other tours Fat Tire Bike Tours offers, such as a food tour and Potsdam day trip as well as Segway city tours.
