For the last four years, my family and I have vacationed to the beautiful Dutch Caribbean island, Aruba. With the island’s warm, sunny weather, white-sand beaches and turquoise waters, it’s no surprise why this is a family favorite destination.

When we arrived on the “happy island” we immediately felt relaxation setting in, as we were greeted with steel drums, friendly smiles, palm trees and warm weather — what more could a vacationer ask for? Every year we stay at a different resort along the northwestern beach, and this year we chose the Aruba Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino. The Marriott Stellaris is the perfect resort for the ultimate Aruba vacation.

My family and I were staying in the Tradewinds Club-level rooms, which is an upscale hotel-within-a-hotel concept on the eighth floor of the hotel. The exclusive collection promises the finest and most lavish resort amenities for guests 18 years and older. The luxury amenities include a private lounge with free breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, “Discovery Hour” and evening cocktails.

We spent our time relaxing by H2Oasis, the adult exclusive pool with a poolside bar and pool cabanas, and under our palapa at the members-only beach. When we were not lounging by the water or riding Big Bertha, the water tube, we were enjoying the taste of the Caribbean. While we choose to stay at different resorts during each of our stays, we have our set list of restaurants — Gianni’s, Papiamento and Atardi. Gianni’s, an authentic Italian restaurant, is known for its cheese wheel. Their specialty dish, Formagio Pasta, is prepared in a Parmesan cheese wheel eventually lit on fire, right in front of your table — making for a unique experience. Papiamento is a unique, unforgettable experience. This hidden gem is surrounded by lush gardens, a sparkling pool, lights in the tree branches and live entertainment. The chef creates exceptional island dishes with a fusion of flavors using Caribbean spices, vegetables and herbs.

Atardi, a Marriott hotel restaurant, is a beachfront restaurant and a best-kept secret on the island. The restaurant not only has delicious food but is the perfect setting for a romantic dinner. Diners are delighted by sunsets and have the best seat in the house. One of the highlights of our trip was the Kukoo Kunuku party bus. We cruised through the streets and wandered down country roads shaking our handpainted maracas, exploring the hidden bars known only to the locals. I am already looking forward to going back!
