Accessing Portugal: TAP Air Portugal Can Help

by Chris Sager

Oct 13, 2019

In 2015, before I knew much about travel or the industry in general, a few of my friends and I decided to book a trip to Portugal based purely on word of mouth. We were studying in Rome at the time, and everyone we spoke with raved about the country for all types of things, so we figured an extended weekend trip wouldn’t hurt.

It took some research and a few phone calls to decide specifically where to go within Portugal, but we arrived in Lagos, an absolutely picturesque town in the southern Algarve region. All you have to do is run a quick Google image search on Lagos, Portugal, and you’ll realize why the decision really was not that hard to make. From there, we visited some other destinations, like Sagres, where we got some photos by the cliffs on the southwestern-most tip of the country.

One of my favorite things about Portugal is it offers many different and unique destinations for one country. You can visit just about anywhere in Portugal and not be disappointed.

The great thing about this is it is now easier than ever to get to Portugal, thanks in large part to TAP Air Portugal. TAP, the flag carrier of Portugal, enjoyed a historic 2019 and has a lot more planned for the year ahead to service North American and European travelers.

In 2019 alone, TAP added new routes to Lisbon from Chicago O’Hare (ORD), Washington-Dulles (IAD) and San Francisco (SFO). To see some of what the airline has on the radar for 2020, check out this recent article.
