Wednesdays on the Green is back for its 14th year, presented by Skokie Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Skokie Public Library. Every Wednesday evening, musical acts perform a free concert, drawing hundreds of fans at Village Green, the courtyard adjacent to the library.
Serendipity is always the highlight of the schedule for me. A five-member band, Serendipity played an energetic 90-minute set of cover songs. With four women up front and a male drummer keeping the beat, the band has a unique look, sound and vibe. Serendipity’s set included a disco mashup and a mini-tribute to Journey.

Despite playing a wide variety of songs from the 1960s to current hits, the band makes the music flow seamlessly. Their music appeals to all ages, as witnessed by all the toddlers and seniors in the audience.
There are still several more Wednesday performances ahead, including The Flat Cats, a jazz and blues band known for modern classics and timeless standards. I like their sound but am really looking forward to seeing a live performance.

Nov 13, 2025Discover the Dreamy Paradise of Fiji’s Garden Island
Professional surfer Kelly Slater and legendary naturalist and broadcaster David Attenborough are among the celebrities who’ve followed their passions to Fiji. Undoubtedly among the most spectacularly beautiful tropical destinations in the world, the South Pacific nation is one of those spots that manage to appeal to surfers, scuba divers, families and honeymooners all at the same time — and with a range of accommodations to suit them, too. They range from ultra-luxurious private island escapes to simple bures (thatched huts) just steps from the sand.
