On Monday, July 4, five of my girlfriends and I spent the warm, sunny afternoon tubing down the Delaware River. I had only been tubing once before, even though we live only about 20 minutes from the self-proclaimed “tubing capital of the world,” Bucks County River Country. After arriving, we paid our admission, selected our tubes (color-coded based on weights) and boarded the yellow BCRC buses. Tubers can opt for three- or four-hour trips down the river. The company also offers rafting and canoeing. After a short drive up the river, the bus dropped us off for the three-hour excursion. Somehow, we managed to tie all six tubes together, and we drifted down the river, occasionally disrupting our revelry to paddle towards a “rapid” or steer ourselves away from overhanging branches.
