I love reading and always like being in mid-book, with several more waiting to be read. I’d like to recommend a few I really enjoyed this year.

The fourth book of the Spellman series by Lisa Lutz is The Spellmans Strike Again. Lutz has created a quirky family of private investigators who constantly get involved with each other’s lives while attempting to solve mysteries of varying degrees of importance and hilarity. Part-mystery, part-humor, Lutz always delivers an entertaining read.

Another book series stars football player-turned-P.I. Zach Chasteen, as written by Bob Morris. In Baja Florida, the fifth in the series, once again Chasteen unravels a mystery in the Caribbean using his wit, charm and cunning.

In the area of autobiographies, I recommend The Beauty of Love by Jorge and Laura Posada. This is the story of how Yankees catcher Jorge and his wife coped when their child was born with a skull condition known as craniosynostosis. As a survivor of CS, this book is near and dear to my heart.

I also enjoyed Suzi Quatro Unzipped, autobiography of a true female rock pioneer. Quatro is open about her entire life, including plenty of highs and lows. I have always said Quatro is very underrated and I am hoping this brings her a little more exposure.

These were some of my favorites from this year. I’m always looking for a good book, though, and would love to hear some suggestions.
