Newly launched, the Arizona Fresh Food Trail is a self-guided driving expedition along the path to great eats. Developed by Visit Mesa, the fully customizable route includes Schnepf Farms, where an 80-year-old family farm produces the bulk of Arizona’s peach crops; True Garden Urban Farm, where visitors can learn about living soil and hydroponic growing methods; and Agritopia, an agri-hood where local business engage in sustainable food practices at venues including The Coffee Shop and Joe’s Farm Grill. Along the way, other choices for trip pauses include Hayden Flour Mills at Sossaman Farms, where hand-cultivated heirloom and native grains are grown; Queen Creek Olive Mill, the state’s only family-owned and -operated working olive mill where olives are grown and pressed; The Orange Patch, ranking as one of Arizona’s original citrus growers; and Superstition Dairy Farms, where the fourth generation farming family offers a milk bar with cheese and ice cream tastings.
