Tolerance is the message of a new multi-location modern art installation in Amsterdam. Called Chambres des Canaux: The Tolerant Home, the exhibit includes works by numerous artists, including Marlene Dumas, Joep van Lieshout, Ina van Zyl and Germaine Kruip. Displayed at positions along the city’s canals, including the walls of the mayor’s residence, the exhibit is curated by Siebe Tettero, who selected works by individual artists with strong connections to Amsterdam.
On view from Nov. 1–17, Chambres des Canaux pays tribute to the city’s Golden Age when the Canal Ring was first created, recognized as a historically significant era of evolution that laid the foundation for the city’s economic and cultural advancement. Tickets are on sale now, both online at and at the Visitor Information Centre located Amsterdam Central Station.
