Could the Star Wars hype be any bigger?
On the heels of the release of the newest installment of the space-based action series, Japanese airline All Nippon Airways announced it will roll out its anticipated line of Star Wars–themed airplanes. There’s an R2D2-themed plane coming out first: a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner painted to resemble the adorable character.
The plane was crafted by Boeing in their Everett, Wash., plant, and it launched in mid-December. The plane won’t fly with passengers for a while, though. It’s scheduled to jet from Tokyo to Vancouver Oct. 18.
The series will include two more planes: a 777-300 designed after the BB-8 droid in the newest movie. That plane will come out in spring 2016. Later this year, ANA will also release a 767-300 with a design combining the first two Star Wars planes.
