Travel between Malaysia and Japan gets a bit more convenient thanks to a new Kuala Lumpur (KUL)–Okinawa (OKA) route.
Beginning January 2020, the service will operate four times weekly by way of Taipei (TPE). It is AirAsia’s sixth route to Japan.
Typically, guests to Taiwan are required to obtain a visa. Passengers of the new service do not need to get visas for the 75-minute layover.
“Like Fukuoka, we are building the foundation for more AirAsia flights to serve Okinawa in the near future, strengthening our regional network and allowing more travellers to discover the unique cultural heritage of this amazing destination,” said Benjamin Ismail, CEO, AirAsia X Malaysia.
Okinawa provides an excellent getaway for leisure travellers looking for a bit of an escape to Japan. It is also popular as a domestic destination for travellers from within Japan.
