Air Canada unveiled its new leisure airline, Air Canada rouge, Dec. 18 with plans to begin service July 1. Featuring two Boeing 767s and two Airbus A319s borrowed from Air Canada’s main fleet, the new discount carrier expects to travel to routes not currently served by Air Canada, such as Venice, Edinburgh and other destinations in Europe and the Caribbean. Special introductory fares are now available for flights to Venice (VCE), Edinburgh (EDI), Athens (ATH), Cuba (HAV), Costa Rica (SJO), the Dominican Republic (PUJ) and Jamaica (MBJ) with most flights departing Toronto (YYZ). The airplane plans to add more Canadian and international destinations later in 2013.
