AAA Travel experts are advising would-be travelers this year that things will look very different than the last time many took a vacation. Here are some differences travelers can expect:
- Masks: Face coverings are required on planes, buses, trains and other forms of public transportation
- Auto: Road trips to domestic destinations will continue to be the preferred way for many to travel
- Hotels: Check in advance to see what COVID-19 protocols the hotel is following
- Air: Remember to expect some limited amenities and other restrictions due to COVID-19
- International Air Travel: All passengers coming to the United States must have a negative COVID-19 test result before boarding flights to the United States
- Cruises: Most cruise lines have voluntarily extended their suspension of sailings further into 2021
“The entire travel experience has been transformed by COVID-19. If you’re considering travel sometime this year, it’s more important than ever to do your due diligence ahead of any trip to ensure it is safe and enjoyable,” said Paula Twidale, senior vice president, AAA Travel. “As vaccines help boost consumer confidence to begin traveling again, we have to remember that wearing masks and social distancing are still a requirement.”
AAA also reminds travelers that travel agents can serve as an advocate before, during and after a trip, especially with travel insurance, destination restrictions, destination-specific requirements and what to do if last-minute changes arise.
