Star light, star bright, take me out to ski tonight … If that’s your kind of travel mantra, head to Switzerland, where full moon skiing is a real thing (no werewolves, we promise). The location is Nendaz, positioned above the Rhone Valley in the Four Valleys ski region. Built-in views of the Bernese, Valais and Vaud Alps greet the snowbound, while the historic town center is home to a collection of lovely traditional timber houses and other structures perfect for exploring pre- or post-skiing beneath the light of the silvery moon.
Upcoming Saturday night Full Moon Parties this season include a retro evening Jan. 19. Participants will enjoy old-school swing music with a live band beginning at 7 p.m., plus a menu of venison stew and polenta.
On Feb. 16, the theme is Italian Evening, with live music providing a soundtrack to dining on pasta and antipasti. The night skiing party program winds up March 23, with an I Love the 80s Vintage Evening. A DJ will provide music and the menu will feature hamburgers, French fries and salads.
On each night skiing evening, departures leave from the Tracouet gondola, with a welcome drink served at the top to the tune of Alpine horns. After dinner wraps up, the Jean-Pierre slope opens, with a return to the village via skiing or gondola service.
