The airline livens up business- and first-class offerings. New menus were created by the Emirates catering team and local Japanese chefs from Gate Gourmet Japan and are available on flights between Dubai (DBX) and Haneda (HND), Narita (NRT) and Kansai (KIX). First-class passengers enjoy traditional Kaiseki menus and business-class passengers receive bento boxes. Emirates is the first airline to serve Kaiseki in-flight meals. All options feature fresh, locally grown ingredients. The first-class Kaiseki menu is made up of five courses, starting with a cold appetiser before moving on to a hot dish, flavoured rice, pickled vegetables, miso soup and wagashi sweets with green tea. Kaiseki is a multicourse haute cuisine tracing its origins to centuries-old tea ceremonies. Today, it’s most often seen in dedicated restaurants and Japanese-style inns at celebratory events. Kaiseki focuses on seasonal, fresh ingredients and beautiful, nature-inspired presentation. Business-class bento boxes elevate the ancient Japanese culinary concept to a high-end, elaborate display. Each presentation and ingredient is carefully considered to reflect artistic style and the perfect texture combinations. In addition to the new menus, exclusive tableware designs accompany the dining experiences, created in part with Noritake. Both new menus are served alongside a choice of beverages, including Asahi beer, only available on Emirates’ Japan routes.
