The music begins to play in Memphis, Tenn., April 29, when the 2016 Beale Street Music Festival kicks off the 40th edition of its multi-genre extravaganza. Headliners include two-time Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Neil Young and his band Promise of the Real, and 12-time Grammy Award winner Paul Simon. Part of the Memphis in May International Festival, the event takes place in Memphis’ historic heart, with opening acts taking the stage at 5 p.m. April 29.
The stellar line-up also includes Beck, Weezer, Zedd, Train, Modest Mouse, Yo Gotti, Grace Potter, Barenaked Ladies, Young the Giant, Cold War Kids, Cypress Hill, Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats, Better Than Ezra, Walter Trout, Jack Semple, Larry McCray, John Primer, Blind Mississippi Morris, Terry “Harmonica” Bean, Larry Long and Reverend Robert Rev.
