Already recognized as one of the world’s most fabulous hotels, Gili Lankanfushi in the Maldives raised the bar even higher with a fabulous renovation to their overwater Private Reserve, reopening Nov. 15. Accessible only by boat, the stunning three-bedroom sanctuary seems to float untethered in the azure-colored lagoon more than 1,600 feet away from the main resort. Ranking as the world’s largest overwater villa, the secluded space includes its own freshwater swimming pool, spacious sundeck, shaded pavilions, a lounge area and wooden walkways leading from each of the two master suites.

Separate bedrooms provide space for nannies, or live-in Mr. Fridays — private butlers who remain on call around the clock. The villa comes equipped with a wine cellar and a personal chef who prepares meals with ingredients from the resort’s own organic herb and vegetable gardens. A private spa includes a sauna and steam room, and there’s also a private, state-of-the-art cinema. Private Reserve stays include transfers to and from Male Airport (MLE) aboard a brand-new 46-foot luxury yacht. Use of the boat for an additional day is also included, providing an opportunity for sightseeing, fishing or snorkeling in the company of the resort’s own marine biologist. The reserve sleeps up to 12, with rates beginning at $11,000–23,630 per night.
