Hilton Paris Opera officially opened its doors to guests following an extensive renovation that introduced a chic and contemporary new look to one of Paris’s most historic and glamorous grand hotels.

Located in the heart of the Right Bank’s Opera district a short distance from the Champs-Élysées, the hotel received a $50 million refurbishment to return the property to its former glory when it first opened in 1889. Under the supervision of the acclaimed design firm Richmond International, the renovation transformed all 268 guestrooms and suites, the majestic Le Grand Salon, several bars and restaurants and meeting and event space in a sophisticated style that both pays homage to the hotel’s storied history and provides an updated aesthetic for the modern traveler.

“France has the largest inbound tourism market in Europe, estimated to reach 100m by 2018, with Paris itself remaining one of the world’s great destinations,” said Simon Vincent, executive vice president and president, Europe, Middle East & Africa, Hilton Worldwide. “Hilton has a long history in the city and we are delighted to be bringing one of its most illustrious hotels back to life, following a stylish renovation that will ensure Hilton Paris Opera becomes a home for Parisians and international guests alike.”

Why Japan Is Best Explored by Sea with Princess

Japan is a destination that rewards repeat visits because no two regions — or seasons —  feel quite the same. One moment, you’re wandering through centuries-old geisha districts in Kanazawa. The next, you’re watching neon reflections dance across Tokyo streets long after midnight.

Choose Your Own Island Vibe in French Polynesia

“We are on small, tiny rocks, isolated in the middle of the largest ocean.” On a nature tour on the atoll of Tetiaroa, my naturalist guide, Thierry Sommers, thus reminded me of the oceanic remoteness of our location in the South Pacific. I was staying at The Brando, a luxurious private island resort that sits a mere 30-minute flight from the main island of Tahiti but still feels gloriously far away from regular civilization.
